Nick Hornby adapts An Education for the screen

Three Nick Hornby novels have been turned into films, and one of them even got that honor twice. High Fidelity and About a Boy were both turned into movies, and Fever Pitch was first turned into a British film (for which Hornby wrote the screenplay), and then into a movie with Jimmy Fallon.

And now there’s An Education, the screenplay of which Hornby adapted. Unlike his other filmic experiences, Education is not based on a book by Hornby, but on a memoir by Lynn Barber, originally published in Granta. The film has quite the cast, including Peter Sarsgaard, Alfred Molina and Emma Thompson, and will be directed by Lone Scherfig, the Danish director behind Italian for Beginners.

An Education is set in the swinging '60s and stars the 22-year-old Carey Mulligan, who appeared in 2005’s Pride & Prejudice.

Nick Hornby is by far one of my favorite contemporary writers, along with Chuck Palahniuk!

Are You Ready to STEP UP?

Step Up 2 is coming out and I'm actually... excited? I have to say that I did enjoy the first one but every hollywood sequel is pretty much just an easy way to make more money. I don't know what to expect from this one, which I suppose is a good thing. Pleasantly surprised is better than a beautiful let down any day. As long as it's not an 90 minute music video I think I'd be ok with it.
